Jay M. Curry Room & Dedication

On Sunday March 27th, 2022 we dedicated the “Up & Going Room” to Jay Curry, officially naming the room, “The Jay M. Curry Room.” We had a service of dedication for such an honor in the life of our church.

Jay touched many lives far and wide. His 41 years of teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church Hubbard from kids to adults made a huge dent in their relationships with Christ. Jay was a model of integrity, honesty, forgiveness, and a life well-lived for Jesus.

There is a plaque that hangs on the wall in recognition of Jay for his years of dedication as a lifetime servant, mentor, and friend to all. His plaque reads the following:

Jay M. Curry

Feb 14, 1924 – Feb 15, 2021

Jay loved the Lord Jesus, his family, his church and his country.  He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War 2 during the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. He and his wife, Marian Allen Curry were married for 72 years and adopted a child, Tom. Jay served Hubbard First Baptist Church as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, choir member, Deacon and Church Moderator for over 70 years. In the local community, Jay was active as a Board Member and Board President of Heart Reach Neighborhood Ministries, with centers in Campbell and Youngstown. Jay also served as a past President of American Baptist Churches of Ohio and nationally on the General Board of American Baptist Churches, USA.

He was a lifelong servant, mentor and friend to all. This room is dedicated in honor of his memory and as a testimony to a life lived for serving Jesus.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service.”   1 Timothy 1:12

Only two rooms in the church have been named after influential people in our church family: The Gordon Room and The Jay M. Curry Room.
